The Commonwealth Game-A-Thon

this week at makai's pre-school they are having education week.
the two younger boys and i got to have morning tea with makai.
it is so much fun to sit back and see him interact with his peers.
it was nice to meet his friends that he talks so much about.
after morning tea they held a Commonwealth Game-A-Thon.
all the little pre-schoolers got so involved i loved watching them.
he had to dress up in the colours of Malta - which were red and white.
makai is growing up way to fast,
it feels like only yesterday he was taking his first steps
and now he is running, jumping and skipping.
i only have possibly 7 more months left with him to teach him all that he needs to know
before i send him off into the world.
is that just ridiculous how fast 5 years goes.
they shouldn't start school until maybe 18, then i would feel like i would have at least time to teach him everything about the world.

Blue Mountains Buttery

every year we take an annual family trip up to the blue mountains.
this family trip is solely planned around a bakery visit for me.
if you know me, you know how much i love bakery goodies.
it is my weakness.
jevan and i stumbled upon this fabulous bakery in the blue mountains back in 2011.
ever since then we have paid it a visit every year.
they have the BEST vanilla slice on the earth.
we get the same things every year.
one meat pie. tomato sauce. one sausage roll. two vanilla slices. one cheese and bacon roll.
except this year we added a couple of new things to our order,
it was the best decision i made.
their apple and rhubarb crumble there are no words for how divine it was.
we get all our goodies walk up to The Carrington Hotel sit on the grass in the sun and eat all our treats.
it is one of the best family dates we go on.

Compulsory Screening

let me tell you about my morning.
and before i proceed i have to admit it hasn't been my finest hour.
ok, so i get home from the gym and then it all starts.
the laundry needs to be put on and hung out before i leave to take makai to preschool, i need to pack makai's lunch for preschool, i need to get 4 people breakfast, i need to iron makai's shirt for school, i need to get 2 kid's toothy pegs brushed, have a shower, and then take makai to school at 8:55.
so after completing that mammoth list,
(i'll admit that half of it was my fault because i was to lazy to do some of them the night before)
i get the kids shoes on and braxton goes to have a drink before we finally head out the door.
this is where my morning goes down hill.
he spills a full cup of juice all over the floor and i basically lost it at him the poor kid.
so after the crazy emotional mum in me comes out we finally make it to the car and get to preschool.
we are finally there, the kids are in the pram makai hopes out of the car and i can see a little bit of crack - which is not normally visible.
i ask him if he is wearing any undies and he just gives me that "i'm going to lie because she is going ot lose it at me" look.
HE WASN'T WEARING ANY UNDIES,
what the ?!
while he was getting changed into his school clothes on (all by himself) he accidently took his undies off while taking his jammies off, and didn't put them back on.
oh man, i was fumming and running 30 mins late by this stage.
so thinking on my feet,
i made braxton take his undies off and give them to his brother (THEY WERE VERY VERY CLEAN - i have to point that out !)
and wallah we made it we finally made it to school.
so in the space of 20 mins i had lost it at 2 of my boys for really no good reason.
wasn't a great start for me.
the day got much better, i took a little drive to calm myself down and tell myself off
and then i took the 2 youngests to feed ducks, do some rock climbing and play at the park.
the boys will now have to take part of a compulsory underwear screening before they leave the front door !

Bedroom Guests

i dont know if any of you in the blogging world have a child that has to take absolutely everything to bed with them.
braxton is my boy that has about 6 toys with him every night and every morning they ALL join him for breakfast, he's a very good host.
he has his regulars that always join him - buzz lightyear, hedgehog, ted and a book.
and then a couple of others - he likes to change it up every night.
but tonight he has the most strangest request to date.
he asked if he could take a marshmallow to bed.
i know right !
it was a tiny little white one, he had been holding onto it since we were roasting marshmallows.
i love how each of my boys is different,
makai is happy to take the one zebra to bed with him every night.
braxton has barely any room to move when he goes to bed but he insists they must be tucked in right next to him.
i love his little personality.
but,  i'm wondering if his guest will be joining us for breakfast as his normal guests do - or if his guest will become a midnight snack.

A Mellow Monday Morning

yesterday we had such a rarity in our house.
no fights or arguments all morning.
in fact, both the boys were side by side talking and playing.
it was such an occasion that of course i had to blog about it,
just to look back and say "uh yes, they actually can be friends with each other."
after my shower, which is usually interrupted about 50 billion times.
i hopped out and thought hmm it's way to quiet what mess are they creating now.
but no, one was up on the table colouring and the other was on the floor.
they were having conversations about Dinosaur Trains and Buzz Lightyear.
we then went for a walk to the park and there were no fights or arguments about who's turn it was on the swing.
they both waited patiently and shared the swing.
you can just imagine my excitement about all this - i don't even think the word excitement covers my feelings.
it was a great day :).

11.7.06

today 8 years ago these 3 little boys became a possibility.
i imagine they watched with eagerness and excitement
(jevan thinks they would have been fist pumping,)
as their dad finally plucked up the courage to ask their mum
if she would embark on a journey with him;
that journey has turned out to be one that will last into the eternities.
the last 8 years have bought us so much happiness.
we have made memories that will last a lifetime already.
although we have struggled through rough patches i can see the lord's hand in moulding us to be the couple that we are destined to become.
we are completely different people than we were in 2006
but i am still crazy about him.
he is my better half, my partner in crime, my right hand.
i can't imagine life without him in it.
i love that noone will ever know me quite the way he does.
he is my rock.
i'm glad that i said yes to that handsome green eyed boy who so nervously asked me,
if i wanted to go out with him 8 years ago today.

Disney On Ice

yesterday I took the boys to their first Disney on ice experience.
I don't know who was more excited about it them or me.
I can still remember my first Disney on ice and I'm pretty sure I still have the program of it.
So you can imagine my excitement to take my boys to see their first one.
They absolutely loved it.
Brax could not take his eyes off Buzz Lightyear.
He was so amazed that Buzz, Woody and Jessie were standing right there in front of him.
Makai was singing all the songs that he could recognise and even had a little boogie.
He applauded all the stunts that the characters did, even thought I'm sure he had no idea what he was applauding.
And I totally succumbed to buying them a piece of memorabilia that was ridiculously over priced.
The things we do to see those priceless smiles light up our children's faces.
I love being able to share these special memories with my boys and will treasure them for the lifetime to come.
I have just realised that my two older boys are not babies anymore, I can't believe how big they are and how much they have grown.
I look forward to spending and making many more memories like this with them.
