Half A Decade

no anniversary is complete without a post dedicated to the one i love.
warning - this may contain a tad of cheesiness.
we have a sign that hangs above our bed that says
"Grow Old Along Side Me, The Best Is Yet To Be"
i love it and from the first time i heard it reminds me of our journey together.
it is like wine, it's gotten better with age.
sure it's been a super SUPER hard year.
we went from having all the time in the world for each other and our family to literally a few hours a week - if that at times, as we juggled callings, education and work commitments.
i have a much deeper love and appreciation for who jevan is and what he has to do.
the last year was a doozey but the time we spent with one another was precious and i held onto every minute we got, instead of wishing every minute away because he was driving me crazy.
this life that we are building together is a beautiful one,
i cannot ever say otherwise.
he is my best friend, we have seen each other at our worst and we have seen each other at our best, he always believes in the potential i have and is always my number one supporter.
he is my confider and my comforter.
there is no one in this world that i would want to spend the rest of eternity with, including the difficult times.
Happy Half A Decade.

THE boy

normally in my blogs i refer alot to the boys and i (referring to my sons),
but this post is about THE boy.
he has been away this week and i found myself thinking of all the little things he does.
note - this post may contain some cheeziness.
we just completed a marriage course that our church wants ALL the married couple to take.
and in one of the lessons for an activity we had to write down all the characteristics that we love about our partner, so i thought why not write down a list of all the things i just love about THE boy in general.

1 - His smile, i didn't realize how much i missed it until we did some facetiming the other night.
2 - He takes Makai to the toilet before he goes to bed, because my belly is getting in the way of getting him off the top bunk and the main reason because i've normally crashed out on the lounge.
3 - His eyes, this may be one of the reasons i wanted kids with him (i wanted them to have his eyes.)
4 - His integrity, diligence & ethics.
5 - His sense of humour, we are total opposites in every way but he makes me laugh and that's all that matters.
6 - Random Texts, how can any girl not love uplifting texts from their partners?
7 - He is super predictable that now i just laugh at the things he does.
8 - His memory, he can remember everything, no joke, i especially love it when he tells me about memories of when we were dating because my memory got lost somewhere when i fell pregnant with makai.
9 - Kisses on the forehead, they are even better when they are randomly distributed.
10 - He plays with our boys, nothing quite so special than seeing a father with their children.

The Itch

30th May 2006,
that was the day i "apparently" met my one.
he can remember the day vividly.
to this day i can remember other people, just not him.
but it was the day that we first said our hello's that would be around for a lifetime.
on the 11th July 2006 he finally asked me to be his girlfriend.
and yesterday marked the 7 years i have been with joovy.
so yep, we made it through the "7 year itch."
we had our doubters and boy have we proved them wrong.
we have been through some quite painful times but there has also been more then enough of the funny, crazy, memorable times along our journey.
i started dating him when he was a cleaner, married him when he was a warehouse worker, supported him as a student and now he is the sole provider as an auditor.
how crazy times change.
chris brown was in the highlight of his career when we started dating, pirates of the carribean 2 was the hit movie everyone had to see, dickies shirts and short shorts were the latest fashion and dresses were just making a come back to the run-way.
the only thing that has stayed the same is that havaiana's are still the ultimate footwear - summer and winter/all year round.
our relationship has been a roller coaster ride and who else better to be in the seat next to me then him.
he drives me crazy, he has given me 2 beautiful boys, he has provided a roof over my head, food for us to eat, clothes for us to wear, he provides the priesthood in our home and he provides the best companionship i could have ever dreamt about when i was a little girl.
With all the odds against us, we made it through the Seven Year Itch.
BOO-YA.
