Lanikai Pillbox Trail

hawaii, hawaii.
oh how i miss you.
jevan and i went to oahu for our honeymoon 9 years ago
but this time i feel like i got to see and do WAY more this time.
i LOVE hiking.
so i had lots of hikes planned for hawaii,
we got to do all except for 1
because we were having so much fun snorkelling that day we decided to ditch the hike and stay.
the first day we arrived we did Lanikai Pillbox Trail.
jevan had gotten no sleep on the flight
but still wanted to do this to beat jet lag.
this hike is SUPER easy,
totally kid friendly and has amazing views.
it took us maybe 20 minutes (if that) to reach the first bunker
and then maybe another 5-10 minutes
(depending on how many people are walking that day)
to reach the second one.
the first bunker was always crazy busy when we went,
so my advice have a quick look and then head to the second
- the views are completely the same.
at the first bunker jevan looked like he was going to pass out
because not only was he exhausted,
he didn't have breakfast when i did.
SO i had to feed him up with red frogs we still had left over from the flight.
after starting our holiday with this beauty
we knew we were in for a fabulous time away.
after this hike we drove over to the north shore of the island
and visited the polynesian cultural centre.
this was one of two things that jevan requested to do
and the poor guy had to do it half asleep.
my favourite thing at the night time buffet was still the purple rolls,
oh man they are good.
to say we had THE BEST SLEEP EVER that night would be an understatement.

Zayden Turns Four

my baby turned FOUR
*insert massive mounts of ugly crying emojis*
where did the time go?
he was just placed in my arms for the first time just yesterday,
right?!
i love being his mum.
he lives up to his name's meaning
(as we have just recently learnt it)
being the "little fire" of our household.
he is definitely a little fire cracker
BUT has a sweet spot for his mother.
jevan has told me he literally thinks that i am his best friend.
i have enjoyed the last 2 years being able to have time just with him.
i felt like i have really been able to watch him grow from a baby to a boy.
our zayden is fearless.
he knows no limits!
he would jump off the tallest building if he was allowed.
he HATES sauce.
it's so bad the ladies at mcdonalds forgot to not put sauce on his cheeseburger
and he straight out refused to eat it.
he has a huge imagination.
LOVES to play basketball.
he is very VERY shy and get VERY nervous.
it takes ALOT for zayden to feel comfortable with people.
he does not like everyone he sees.
if zayden speaks to you,
you know he genuinely likes you because
if he doesn't he has no problem ignoring you.
he is the BIGGEST mumma's boy,
(which i totally love.)
if there's one person you want on your side,
it's zayden.
and if there's one person you don't want to make angry or fight,
it's zayden.
zayden completes our family of five.
and we love watching him grow into a little boy we are proud to call ours.
he spent his birthday doing going to his favourite museum,
The Maritime Museum.
and out of the 6 hours we were there,
i would say at least 4 was spent
watching the submarine and destroyer 5 minute movies they show
- on repeat.
top that with mcdonalds for lunch, pizza for dinner
and getting sung happy birthday to,
that made for a perfect day for the newest 4 year old in the ormsby household.

p.s - WE ARE OFFICIALLY OUT OF CONVERTIBLE CAR SEATS *WOOP WOOP*
p.p.s - i had to take photos of braxton and zayden ACTUALLY showing affection to each other,
these two CONSTANTLY fight.

Yarramundi Reserve

today was my choice.
i feel like i should have a choice,
i do all the driving for the boys one.
so the day i got was pretty crappy weather.
boo !
but it still worked out to be fun :).
yarramundi reserve has been on my list since jevan tried to take me there last year
to do milky way photos but their was a burnt out car in the car park
so naturally i refused to get out.
i felt MUCH safer in the daylight.
it was actually pretty cool .
we went for a little walk down to the creek/river,
where you can swim in,
(did not know this before hand)
and also kayak in,
(makai doesn't know this but he's getting a kayak for his birthday so we will be heading back there)
and do some awesome stone throwing competitions in.
we took the vortex and
the boys had catching competitions.
we tried skip rocks across the water
- i suck at this so bad.
of course the boys got soaked
and of course i was not prepared for it.
unfortunately the rain came and we had to leave,
but next time we come we will head to the south gate.
theres was a bunch more people on that side than the north gate side,
so i figure it's a bit better on that side for swimming and kayaking?!

NFL

we (i) literally sat around for a week after we got back from qld.
i did not want to do anything.
i must be getting old !
jevan and i had also noticed that the boys weren't playing together
and when they did they would argue like cats and dogs.
so we decided that once we had gotten back that we wouldn't be entertaining them.
they would have to play together and make their own fun.
so i used this week to really test the waters lol.
not too sure if they appreciated it but i did !
the week after we planned a couple of activities,
mostly to wet n wild because it was so stinking hot.
and because we were out of money
(thanks to our awesome holiday)
the boys and i had to think of activities that would cost little to no money.
it was actually really fun to see what they came up with.
this blog is all about makai's choice.
my sister had gotten the boys a full nfl outfit for their christmas present,
which they LOVED !
i had to coax them out of it a couple of times just so i could wash them.
makai chose to go to the park and play nfl.
and that's what we did but he chose the hottest day that week to do it.
so by the time we got home we were all exhausted.
which was good because that meant for a quiet afternoon for me
*WINNING*

Sunflower Fields & Tallebudgera Creek

i had planned a trip to farm & co ever since i saw them pop up on my instagram feed.
have you ever seen a sunflower field?!
oh my goodness.
it's SUPER pretty.
so when i found out they were only 25 minutes from where we were going to be,
it was a must.
the boys tried to find ones that they were taller then...
there wasn't too many.
this place isn't just a sunflower farm,
it is a working farm.
there was an abundance of veggies and fruit growing.
i took this time to show the boys where their fruit and veggies come from.
there were amazed at how some of them grew.
there was some hammocks under the beautiful big trees at the back of the farm to.
this was probably the boys favourite part.
i could have stayed their all day,
if i wasn't in between 2 boys "trying" to see how high they could get me.
after the farm we hit up tallebudgera creek.
we had hiked along it a couple of mornings before
and the colour of the water was a perfect crystal clear turquoise.
but the day we went to go snorkelling it was overcast and pretty dang miserable.
so we unfortunately didn't get any of those beautiful aqua hues.
and the water was super cloudy.
so again our snorkel day didn't go as well as we had hoped.
but the boys enjoyed trying out their snorkel skills
they have been practicing out in the pool.
we took the rest of the afternoon swimming, playing the nintendo
and packing up ready to come home.
this holiday has been one of our favourites
(i think i say that each time i come back form a holiday)
but we were all ready to come home.
