we REALLY struggled to get up after our day in taupo,
but we rolled out of bed and pulled ourselves together.
and i am so glad we did.
rotorua was even more amazing then the first time we had visited in 2010.
we had break at this quirky little cafe
and then headed back to the hotel to hire ourselves some bikes.
perfect timing,
as we were paying for the hire the owner came around and told us a track to do that would show us the real rotorua instead of the tourist attractions that everyone goes to.
right up my alley !
we spent 3 hours bike riding.
we rode through steaming vents, hot springs and boiling mud pools.
they were un-fenced and free for us to get as close as we wanted
"without getting burnt" as our hotel owner put it.
we rode along lake rotorua and then found ourselves at an old moari village.
it was amazing.
the craftsmanship of the marae was ridiculous.
the effort and time they put into each carving is beyond amazing.
we then headed to a free geo-thermal park called Kuirau Park.
the world that we live in is beautiful and amazing.
after our explore rotorua bike session
we had a pit stop at a bakery to put on all those calories that we just lost.
jevan had his first cronut and was a big fan.
we then went to the place that i have had booked in since we booked our tickets
- mudding.
yes, we paid money to sit in and put mud on each other.
and i would do it all again.
it was so relaxing and rejuvenating.
it was just what we needed after a big day of biking.
that ended our adventures in rotorua as we headed to hamilton.
