as i get older my views on what i should being doing as a mother shift and change.
when they were younger all i wanted to do was buy them clothes and the newest toys,
i wanted them to have the best of everything.
now as my children get older i want them to have manners, gratitude and be kind.
i want them to be able to share and take turns.
i want them to be grateful when we go out to dinner,
or when they get to have a piece of chocolate after dinner.
i want them to have a love the outdoors and all the beautiful creations
instead of having there fingers on iPads and iPhones games.
i want them to hold doors open for the elderly and girls.
i want them to learn do help with the housework.
i want them to be respectful of others,
i want them to use please and thank-you without having to be reminded.
i want them to include and play with their younger cousins.
i want them to be strong in their beliefs and values.
i want them to love each other and be loyal.
the list could go on and on.
so because of these this year we have decided to focus on having
the boys taking a more active role in the family.
we have decided that they will now get (on top of their daily chores) a weekly chore that they need to complete on saturday mornings before we get to go out.
they don't appreciate this at all,
we have one who will do it because he understands the quicker he does it the quicker he can do something fun.
we have one who complains the whole entire time - even when he is actually finished he is still complaining about the job he had to complete.
we have one who responds well to "if you don't do it there will be no treats", bribery works a charm with this chubba.
i'll let you see if you can guess who's who
