Makai Turns Five

my first born turned 5 last wednesday.
i have no idea how that happened?!
they don't lie when they say time will fly.
in our family the birthday-ee gets to pick the adventure for the day.
all makai wanted to do was go on a little train, not a big one - specially a little one.
i found that they were doing train rides at The Pioneer Village in Windsor.
it was perfect for the kids and perfect for our bank account.
the entry was $5 per adult and $3 per school age child.
they had a couple of rides.
the train, the flying chairs (my all time favourite), the mini fire engine and a jumping castle.
you could get on each on of these for $10 per child.
it was such great value for money.
they were not tight with the amount of time you got a go on these rides.
after the rides we took a step back in time and explored the village.
we ate damper, we played games the kids would have played back then, we saw animals, we explored old houses, went up creeky staircases, pumped water but the boys most favourite part was hitting up the good old lolly shop.
the lollies were ridiculously cheap, i could hardly believe my eyes.
in true makai fashion he chose maccas for lunch and pizza for dinner.
this boy has had pizza for the last 4 years on his birthday.
i cannot believe how much he has grown in this short period of his life.
he is always striving to do what is right and doesn't get distracted by others.
his beautiful smile lights up my heart,
he loves being around his cousins and friends.
his favourite colour is still green,
and he is still transport obsessed.
happy birthday to the most handsome 5 year old i know.
